Story

Originally designed to characterize advanced radiation beams in Prof. Fabrizio Carbone's lab at EPFL, our detector took on a new dimension when Veronica, Michele and Benoit crossed paths during their physics PhD journeys.

The synergy sparked when microfabrication expert Veronica met Michele, whose profound knowledge centered on developing cutting-edge proton therapy instruments. Since 2020, Veronica and Michele's PhD endeavors have been dedicated to creating a novel proton detector tailored to surmount current limitations crucial for advancing next-gen radiation therapy—enabling high precision, rapid monitoring, and easy servicing.

In 2023, Benoit, leveraging his entrepreneurial acumen, joined forces, propelling Protonica into the startup realm following successful initial tests. Together, we chart the course for a promising future in revolutionizing radiation detection crucial to advance next-gen radiotherapy.
